Workshop: Canções Para Abreviar Distâncias: Music as a Facilitator of the Dissemination and Understanding of Poetry, by Isabella Bretz (Brazilian singer)

The workshop proposes a theoretical and practical immersion into the relationship between music and poetry, highlighting how the fusion of these languages broadens their reach and enhances the interpretation of the literary text. Drawing on poems set to music from the album Canções Para Abreviar Distâncias by Isabella Bretz, which brings together Lusophone authors from different countries, participants will be encouraged to explore sonic, rhythmic, and expressive resources that complement the meaning of poetry. The session aims to provide tools for the creation and analysis of poems set to music, to discuss their impact on learning the Portuguese language, and to reflect on the role of these arts in cultural formation and personal development.
Isabella Bretz is a singer, songwriter, cultural producer, and international analyst. She holds a degree in International Relations and a postgraduate degree in International Law. As a singer, she has released five albums and one EP of original music. She is co-author of the book “Audio Knowledge for Singers”, manager of the “Audio For Singers” project, and creator of the “Audio For Singers Award”, initiatives dedicated to democratizing access to audio and technology knowledge for artists. She is also co-creator of “Sonora – International Festival of Women Composers and Songwriters”, being part of the global coordination of the network and responsible for the Lisbon edition.
Poemas musicados: a música como facilitadora da difusão e da compreensão da poesia
A oficina propõe uma imersão teórico-prática na relação entre música e poesia, evidenciando como a fusão dessas linguagens amplia o alcance e favorece a interpretação do texto literário. Partindo de poemas musicados do álbum Canções Para Abreviar Distâncias, de Isabella Bretz, que reúne autores lusófonos de diferentes países, os participantes serão estimulados a explorar recursos sonoros, rítmicos e expressivos que complementam o significado da poesia. O encontro busca oferecer ferramentas para criação e análise de poemas musicados, discutir seus impactos no aprendizado da língua portuguesa e refletir sobre o papel dessas artes na formação cultural e no desenvolvimento pessoal.
